UAE’s inheritance laws are governed by The Personal Affairs Law of No.28 of 2005 which enables Non-Muslim expats living in the UAE to apply native laws to distribute their assets in UAE. The UAE Civil Code also regulates this aspect of distribution of assets by executing a Will according to one’s wish. If will is not executed by an expat and who dies intestate in his assets will be distributed as per Shariat Law irrespective of the fact whether the expat is a Muslim or non Muslim.
